Over 60 internationally renowned speakers will discuss both basic science and clinical topics with emphasis on management of patients with wasting syndrome and state-of-the-art and future potential therapies. This year’s symposium will also address issues pertaining to malnutrition, inflammation and wasting in chronic kidney disease. For more information, contact Prof. F. Rossi Fanelli at filippo.rossifanelli@uniromal.it or Prof. K. Kalantar-Zadeh at kamkal@ucla.edu or visit www.cachexia.or.

The 15th International Vicenza Course on Peritoneal Dialysis will be held May 30-June 2, 2006, at the Congress Center Ente Fiera, Vicenza, Italy. The course on Peritoneal Dialysis is in strict collaboration with the International Society of Nephrology, the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis and the industry of the field. A series of lectures and panel discussions will be held during the course. The deadline for registration is May 10, 2006. After May 10th, registration will be subject to space availability. 7th International Conference of the International Federation of Kidney Foundations
The 7th International Conference of the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF) will be held June 7-10, 2006 in Taoramina, Italy. For further information, contact Professor Guido Bellinghieri, President of the conference. E-mail: gbellinghieri@hotmail.com.
6th International Podocyte Congress. Translational Research from the Labbench to Bedside
The 6th International Kidney Reasearch (Podocyte) Congress will be held June 8-11, 2006 in Helsinki, Finland. The molecular-basic kidney research has evolved rapidly during the last few years after the milestone discoveries identifying the key molecules maintaining the patency of the glomerular filtration barrier. With these studies, the role of the podocyte and, particularly the interpodocyte slit diaphragm molecular complex has shown to be essential, also for diseases including hypertension and diabetic end-organ complications. Improvements in targeted diagnostics and new lead molecules for pharmacologic treatments are to be expected. For effective translational networking, the 6th International Kidney Research (Podocyte) Congress will bring together researchers in basic research expertise together with clinical expertise to boost collaboration, share visions and yield common research strategies. The Congress venue is the Biomedicum of the University of Helsinki, Helsinki, Finland. For further information, please contact Pia-Mari.Parkkinen@Helsinki.Fi or see www.Technomedicum.fi.
