Participants detected with chronic kidney disease by stage in Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP) and National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Chronic kidney disease stages were defined as follows: stage 1, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) greater than 90 mL/min/1.73 m2 and albumin-creatinine ratio (ACR) of 30 mg/g or greater; stage 2, eGFR of 60 to 89 mL/min/1.73 m2 and ACR of 30 mg/g or greater; stage 3, eGFR of 30 to 59 mL/min/1.73 m2; stage 4, eGFR of 15 to 29 mL/min/1.73 m2; and stage 5, eGFR less than 15 mL/min/1.73 m2. To convert eGFR from mL/min/1.73 m2 to mL/s/1.73 m2, multiply by 0.01667.
