Article Outline
In “Time-Dependent Association Between Metabolic Syndrome and Risk of CKD in Korean Men Without Hypertension or Diabetes” (Ryu et al, American Journal of Kidney Diseases 53:59-69, 2009) the hazard ratio (HR) for incident CKD associated with metabolic syndrome over time was incorrectly reported in the abstract and text as 1.75 with a 95% confidence interval of 1.28 to 2.39. In fact, the HR and 95% confidence interval should have matched the values given in Table 2, which were a HR of 1.83 and a 95% confidence interval of 1.34 to 2.49. The sentence in the abstract (results subsection) in its corrected form is: “Metabolic syndrome over time as a time-dependent variable also predicted the development of CKD (HR, 1.83; 95% confidence interval, 1.34 to 2.49).” The sentence in the “Results” section, which appeared at the bottom of page 61, follows in corrected form: “Metabolic syndrome over time as a time-dependent variable also predicted the development of CKD (HR, 1.83; 95% confidence interval, 1.34 to 2.49), but this association was weaker than that of metabolic syndrome at baseline before updating.” The conclusions of this article are not affected by this correction.
