40th Anniversary Special Collection: CKD

AJKD is celebrating its 40th year in 2021. In this special collection, the editors selected landmark papers on chronic kidney disease (CKD) that have been published in the journal over the past four decades. Some were chosen because they were among our most highly cited papers: the 2002 K/DOQI Clinical Practice Guidelines for CKD has been cited over 10,000 times. Others because they seemed to reflect the time period in which they were published: HIV and anemia in the 1980s and 90s; COVID-19 in 2020. Others brought important new information to the kidney disease community: Mesoamerican nephropathy and SGLT-2 inhibitors are but two examples. We are proud to offer this special collection as just a tiny fraction of the many valuable contributions thousands of authors have brought to the journal over the past 40 years, and we thank all of them for choosing us to publish their work.
